Problem Solving Sessions

We will have problem solving sessions on (most) Saturdays and Sundays from 1:45pm - 3:30pm at ECSC 042.  Attending these aren't mandatory but highly recommended. The modus operandi will be the following:

  • There will be 3-4 problems that will be the focus of each session. These problems will often be the non-blue/non-brown problems related to the material covered that week and often doing these will give a head start for the brown problems due on Wednesday.
  • Students will seat in groups and work on these problems together.
  • We will begin promptly at 1:50pm and every one will work on the same problem for ~25-30 minutes. Group members should work together in (a) understanding what the problem is asking, (b) brainstorming ideas, (c) clarifying each others confusions about concepts if any arise, (d) writing up solution together. The instruction staff will be around since inevitably each step would lead to questions.
  • At the end of the 30 minutes, there should be a page with scribbles and the names of the group members. Then we would move on to the next problem.
